Abba Voyage:
The phrase 'needs to be seen to be believed' has become synonymous with the ABBA Voyage show but having seen it myself I'm still not sure I believe it. The show uses mind-bending technology combined with a cutting-edge light and laser display to put on a virtual ABBA dream concert from the comforts of the custom-built ABBA Arena.
Whilst nothing can beat the thrill of a live concert, the combination of ABBA-tars and a 10-strong live band certainly comes close. There are millions around the world who would absolutely love to attend an ABBA concert, but with the band having not toured since 1982 this provides so many with a chance to 'see' the band live that they would never have otherwise had. The experience has just passed its one-year anniversary, and with over a million spectators already passing through selling out over 300 shows it is showing no signs of slowing down.
The show features hit after hit, from dance anthems like 'Lay All Your Love On Me' and 'Dancing Queen', to slower sing-alongs like 'Chiquitita' and 'Fernando'. There is an overarching storyline which also provides the ABBA a chance to show their gratitude for their ever-growing fan base, as well as the bands natural wit. A whole range of emotions were felt throughout that 90-minute production with tears shed, hugs shared and smiles beaming on everyone's face as they made their way out Abba Voyage blurs the lines between the physical and digital, creating a modern masterpiece that shows all the positives AI can bring, at a time when everything else seems to point to the negatives.
International Light and Magic, who have previously worked on massive films such as Star Wars and Gladiator, were behind the creation of this visual spectacle, making ABBA's dream a reality. As a whole ABBA voyage is a show like no other and is should be on the bucket list of all concert and theatre lovers
