The Jockey Club live are yet again bringing Newmarket Nights back to the July course. This now iconic concert series sees a host of music's biggest names take to the stage at Newmarket Racecourse, following an exhilarating evening of horse racing. Newmarket Nights is part of a wider series of events run by The Jockey Club, with music and racing events also taking place at Haydock Park, Market Rasen and Sandown Park. The first of this year's Newmarket Nights' concerts took place last Friday when Pete Tong's Ibiza Classics took over the track. The second event of the year took place last night, being headlined by one of the UK's bestselling boybands, JLS; and I was lucky enough to be there.
JLS brought out their best moves as they mastered their way through a set crammed full of their biggest hits, ensuring the crowd stayed in fine voice all night. The groups' harmonies are a thing of art, and their stage presence was one of the best I've seen from a pop act. They shared a number of heart warming moments up close with the audience, whether that be Aston jumping off the stage to hug a girl in the front row, or climbing up to the stands that flank the stage. Moments like this make it abundantly clear why the connection between JLS and their supporters is so strong
After a good 75-minute journey through some of the country's biggest hits, which even included a 'DJ-LS megamix' break, the group brought their main set to a close with a rousing rendition of Beat Again. As expected, thunderous chants of "one more song" filled the racecourse, however the audience were spoilt as JLS too back to the stage to play two more songs. 'Love You More' and 'Everybody in Love' provided the perfect end to an evening that proved exactly why JLS are still at the very top, and why Newmarket Nights truly are must-attend events
